Over the past seven years, Theatre Calgary has presented the world premieres of Miller’s BOOM, BOOM X, and now we're thrilled that they are opening the 2021-22 season with BOOM YZ.
Experience the iconic figures from politics, pop culture and music who shaped the last 25 years, from 1996 - 2020. Rick Miller plays more than 100 characters in 100 minutes, including his own daughter, to reflect on the aspirations and anxieties of young people today, and to bring his multi-generational BOOM series to a spectacular close. The Kidoons team is excited to be back in Calgary, where BOOM YZ runs from OCT 19 - NOV 7.
“As in parts 1 and 2 of the trilogy, I’ll play a lot of characters, sing a bunch of songs, and try to juggle humour, heart and history. But the thrust of BOOM YZ is the present, and our possible futures.
"BOOM is the story of my parents' generation, BOOM X is the story of my generation, and now BOOM YZ is the story of my kids’ generation, and the world they’re inheriting from us,” says Rick Miller. “I want to help build bridges, not walls, and sharing intergenerational stories onstage is what the trilogy is all about.”
